The past two weeks I have noticed my breast hurt. Which is not normal for me. I suspected I might be pregnant. I waited till after I was suppose to start. It was clearly positive. I made a doc. appt but they don't want to see me until I am six weeks(June 4th). What do I do in the meantime? How do I know if I am really pregnant? I don't know why but it seems so hard to grasp that I am pregnant. Is that normal? I am also nervous to get to excited. My Mom and sister both miscarried thier first time. They tell me what I am experiencing they experienced during thier healthy and full term pregnacy. How do I calm my fears?

Just stay calm, relax and be excited. Don't let all the what ifs and worries of having a miscarriage stress you as stress can lead to miscarriage...Congrats

It is okay to be frightened, just don't over scare yourself. Try making an appointment at a regular doctor or an urgent care and get a test done there to know for sure before going to the OB-GYN appointment. The breat soreness is a dead give away of pregnancy and a good way to calm your fears is to take Deep breathes and slowly exhale, this is a way to process stress. Don't do it one times to many or you will get light headed but it will help you. Look at the positives of a baby and what you would get to experience. I can't tell you if you are pregnant or not because I am not a doctor and everyone is different but yes, I know exactly how you feel. It usually takes a while to get in a OB-GYN but it is worth the wait to get your prenatal care. Avoid any medication other than tylenol, just the regular pills or extra strength, No tylenol sleeping liquid or aid. Don't consume any alcoholic beverages, dont let anything take a full blow out hit to your stomach, eat good foods and do not junk out, if you get used to eating good now it will be more likely that it stays that way throughout the pregnancy. No worries my dear, many women every day go through this, you are not the only one.

Unfortunately the only thing you can do is pray to have a clam sense overcome you. (if you are religious). I am 26 wks and still worry sometimes.
Just because mom ans sis mc'd don't let that distract you. They may have other things wrong with them. You will not really be able to grasp the concept of being preggo until you see the baby on ultrasound, or feel the baby move. That's really when it becomes concrete for some moms.
This si my second pregnancy and sometimes I still don't believe I am having another.
To help ease your mind, make goal points..like getting to 8 wks, and then 12, after 16 you are pretty much out of the water for mc.
I know its frustrating, but there is really nothing you can do other than stay postitive and hope for the best.
Good luck and congrats.

When your 2 weeks late on your period that means your 6 weeks and so since you took the test once you were late if shouldn't be that long of a wait. I miscarried a couple of weeks ago during my first pregnancy my mother nor my sister did so I don't think it runs in the family or anything you should be fine. In the meantime take prenatal vitamins you can buy some at wal-mart until you can get a prescription for them. Eat lots of healthy foods fruits and veggies no smoking or drink alcohol as you probably know. You shouldn't have caffine either.

Hope this helps any!

Good Luck and Congrats!

You could always try a few more tests to be positive, and get ahold of some books so that you can read up on what to expect and what you can and can't do until you meet with your doc. Knowing as much as you can about pregnancy is the best way to calm fears. I reccomend the What to Expect When You're Expecting books...they helped calm me down a lot. Congratulations!

First of all, Nerves and anxiety can be a leading cause of miscarriage , so stay as calm as possible. Your obviously pregnant. (test's are usually right, especially if it showed a pregnant status immediately. June 4th is only a short distance away. Your pregnant honey, 9months of waiting has begun! you wait to go to the doctor, for the first ultrasound, for the first movement, to find out the sex, and of course to hold your precious creation in your arms.
I suggest going out and getting a book or two.
"You pregancy: week by week" by Dr. G Curtis and Judith Shuler (i like this one the most because it breaks it all down into weekly stages, telling you what to expect and whats going on with your baby
also try
"what to expect when your expecting" this give you a monthly outline of pregnancy.
start there, it will calm your nerves to know whats normal and what's NOT!
Also, try yoga! (they have yoga for expecting moms, I swear by it!)

Make sure you take your prenatal multivitamins, eat healthy, get lots of sleep, don't smoke and avoid alcohol. Even if you're not sure if you're pregnant, good heallth habits right now will discourage certain birth defects, some which can occur (like spina bifida) in the earliest stages of pregnancy.

Please don't worry too much over this. I know it's easier to say than to practice but right know you have no way of knowing if you will or will not miscarry. Try to focus on other possibilities than the M word. :)

You can always take another test... I took three before I believed it, haha! Another thing you can do is try to find a walk in clinic somewhere in town that accepts your insurance and ask for a bloodtest to determine pregnancy.
6 weeks is a common checkup, actually. They will most likely do an ultrasound, to check on lil one.
In the meantime, do not stress! That wont help anything.. try and relax and revel in your pregnant glory :) Start taking pre-natals... even if you arent pregnant they are good for all women!!

1. You are pregnant. It is very difficult to get a false positive.
2. Live health. Get on prenatals NOW, cut down on caffiene, no smoking, no drinking, no drugs.
3. It will take a while for it to sink it.
4. Don't allow your mother's and sister's miscarriages ruin your pregnancy experience. Be cautious, but enjoy this time.
