It looks like the Senate is going to put out a bill today without all of the restrictions on the military that Moveon.org has been asking for. However there is $17 BILLION in PORK in this bill.
I thought the democrats were elected to cut unnecessary spending? I have read sooo many posts on YA from democrats saying that spending is out of control. Why can't our democratic politicians not spend money on unnecessary projects that are not in the budget?

Politicians just cannot resist putting in a little benefit for themselves now and then. The pork is usually actually added to get votes from people who were on the fence. As in, 'I am not sure I want to vote for this bill.' 'What if we give your district a $10 million . . . '
