Average lifespan is 3 - 4 yrs. However, when really well cared for with proper food, heating and filtration, they can live up to 6 yrs. There have been betta fish that have lived up to 10 yrs in laboratory settings.

Bettas generally live 2-4 years in decent conditions. However, by the time you purchase one at the Pet Store, it's already about a year or so old. Good luck!

The average life span of a Betta is 5 years.

But they can live to 10 years.

With proper care 5 years is a very reasonable estimate. I have had a select few last over 7 but usually between 5-6 has been average.
