That doesn't seem right at all. Maybe because you haven't had contractions yet? I would go to the hospital anyway and see what they have to say. If you wait until you get contractions, you could be fully dialated and have your baby before you get to the hospital. Or maybe you misunderstood and you're not 5 cm? I've heard of people being 100% effaced and not go into labor, but not that far dialated. Weird. I'd go to the hospital. If they send you home, they might be able to guess how long you should remain home before expecting to come back. So you'll at least have a ballpark time figure.

If you're 36 weeks (even IF you're measuring 39), she may have sent you home because of the fact that the lungs may not be matured. You're considered to be full term at 37 weeks, but you want to keep the baby in there as long as possible to make sure that it's really time.

If you are worried, though, call her.

Once you are at 4 , you are in active labor. I've never heard of someone being sent home when dialted to 5. That's weird. The first contraction you have, go straight to the hospital. They will admit you.

Because he thinks it's still too early or that he just predicts that you won't dilate that fast.
