48 = 6 x 8 and 66 = 6 x 11
therefore 48/66 = (6 x 8)/(6 x 11)
the numerator 6 (at the top) and denominator 6 (at the bottom) cancel ou leaving 8/11
hence 48/66 = 8/11

Start with the smallest number you can think of which divides both 48 and 66. Then do it again and again till no such number exists.
=>48/66 both can be divided by 2, so divide
=>24/33 both can be divided by 3
=>8/11
