In it he says:

"Obviously with Madeleine still not back we are very disappointed. I wouldn't go so far as to say frustrated, but we are disappointed," he said. "We hope the authorities are going to explore more avenues and focus the resources very much on sightings and other information."

So if he's disappointed and wants the authorities to examine sightings more closely, then why dont they actually USE some of the money the public have donated and hire a private detective who can chase up leads such as that in Morocco.

Its all very well to say they are disappointed and they hope the focus is more about sightings, but if they dont believe the police are doing a stellar job, then why not hire PI's to help chase up leads as they happen and not wait for days for the police to get round to it?

They sit there throwing stones, but wont actually use the fund money as it was intended instead they'll quite happily use it to fund their entourage instead of looking for Maddy?

Brill - And your authority to tell us not to call her Maddy is??????? Take it up with the family if you dont like it. Better yet get Mr and Mrs McCann on the phone to me, and after Ive listened to them complain about me shortening their daughters name, they can listen to a few things I have to say which will reduce them to tears when I lay a few home truths down on them.

toiet - Why wouldnt they just say they have been advised by the Police not to bring in PI's? At the moment it seems like a decision they alone are making and thats what the public cant understand.

i agree if this was my daughter they would either have to sedate me and lock me in a padded cell to stop me going crazy or i would do anything remortgage my house etc anything to hire anyone that could help.i fear the worse though as its been 3 week now surely if it was a ransom then they would have been contacted by now!!

Apart from the hope that the abductor releases the child unharmed at some point in the future the mccanns dont have a chance in hell of finding her unless by chance their is a sighting and the her case is high enough on peoples minds and agendas to respond.

This is where reality does bite and the mccanns do have to face these facts regardless of how much publciity and funds they recieve which is the media can publicise a case but cannot solve it and in this case may have given false hopes in the fact that peoples vigilance might find her....

that so many people and children go missing every year
and of those so many are forceable abducted and of those some are found alive and of those there as been between a fraction of time to many years before their release has come....and that they cannot hope or rest there hopes on the fact that her abductor may take her to a park and play on a swing and someone might by chance see her....

There is only so much that the police ; public and media can do and alot more that vigilant good caring parents could have done in this case in the first place...

I watched the Zodiac yesterday and reflected on the reality that he invited the media and police into a game against a background of brutal and chilling murders...

I was in Vallejo in 1983 and was told about the Zodiac as I passed by the location of the shootings and presumed because he had a name that he had been caught and was behind bars and yesterday found it chilling that there was only a prime suspect who was never prosecuted and working at least until 1991 in some paint shop. At the time of my trip there were about six other disappearances marked by police posters on every telephone pole about youngsters who were missing and their last sighting (snatched as they walked the street)...In the film the police admitted that the Zodiac murders represented a fraction of the total murders over a period but only seemed more because he chose to take that profile in the media.... this did not help the police or the newspapers in revealing the true identity of the murderer in the way we are used to murderers being caught on CSI and so on.

The reality is that it is easy to find a person if they went missing of their own accord and more chance they might return or if there was a reason rather than some crude nobody who picks them up against their ill for that person becomes an unknown entity and that creates more problems in the search.....

Wow. "Obviously with Madeleine still not back we are very disappointed. I wouldn't go so far as to say frustrated, but we are disappointed"

That has to be one of the most bizarre quotes I've ever heard in my life!

Try substituting the word 'Madeleine' for 'Patch' and you get a flavour of how totally out of wack that sentence is. What a really REALLY weird thing to say. The way the whole clan are dealing with this tragedy really is unprecedented. And weird.

To be fair I too imagine it may have came from the PR machine, but to what purpose? Other than so as not to sound critical of the police I just cannot see why you would say that in this situation. But even then, surely you could word a statement using stronger, more emotional language without it implying criticism of the police? So he isn't frustrated that after 3 weeks poor Madeleine hasn't been located? Sorry but I simply can't get my head around it.

This just gets weirder by the day...

I have no time for these so called doting Parents.I feel deeply for their loss ,but it was a loss they created ,how could anyone leave 3 children unattended in a Holiday apartment in a strange country? The latest on John McCanns comments on the whole situation,is frankly, false, they are words from his management / trustee team not him,if he stated the truth, there would be such a public outcry, they would never be able to sleep at all because of all the din from the media. The truth is they left their beautiful children at risk,in a strange place and expected them to be safe .Madeleine may well have woken up and tried to search for her Parents .The door was unlocked and she wandered out into the street to look for them. What happened next is any ones guess. It is a known fact that Pedophiles hang around holiday complexes. They are the Evil Hunters of innocent children. It is possible that she could have been taken by an adoption ring!I think soon they will find the truth, but how and when ?

Today, for the first time since this all began, I have actually wanted to be physically sick.
Mr McCann now has a blog on the findmadeleine site where he describes having a 'quiet day' although an Ambassador will be popping in for tea at some stage.
They've only just remembered Madeleine has a birth mark behind her knee ....??? Would that not be one of the very first thnigs you make known about a missing child?
Aunt McCann is sending out aggressive e-mails to anyone who dares ask questions, and now green and yellow wristbands are hitting the shops.
I really don't give a flying pig pasty what Lord McCann does or how he spends his days. He discusses Madeleine's disappearance the way you would talk about your team losing a football match.
And to hear that Uncle McCann is 'disappointed' ..... well words fail me. That poor poor little child

I have just read his latest statement (John McCann) how can anyone relate to what he as said . As a loving parent my words would certainly not be "disappointed".

Hire a private detective for god sake then you can dictate to them what to do what lead to follow . I fail to see why they have totally dismissed this for now . Ok some might say that private detectives can get in the way of the police work but isn't John McCann now saying he is not totally happy with the police for not following some leads.

I would want the police ,private detectives ,psychics ,the public even my pet cat to be involved in the case.

My first words would not be "frustrated" or "disappointed". How about devastated, distressed or even shattered.

Just more proof that they are too calm and collected. As you say Dave why not hire a PI to do the leg work at least that way they get some concrete answers. But, hang on maybe that is what they are scared of!!!!

Are these people for real?
disappointed?
I have said elsewhere something is very very wrong here.
What the hell is going on?
Beats me how the Mcann supporters aren't starting to ask some questions themselves.
As for this tour of Europe, words fail me, how will that or wearing a damn wristband or writing a daily diary find this little girl? All it does is to raise the profile, and lets not forget money for Team McArrogant McCann.
And now it seems that some people in the USA are getting suckered by it all.

Disappointed. How bad does it have to get before they are frustrated. And how much worse still before they are grief stricken, terrified, grieving for their lost daughter etc.
I really felt that there was little they could do anymore to surprise me. Then came this and the pictures of them at Fatima. It's not really odd that, as Catholics, they should want to pray at Fatima's shrine, but with the Press in attendance? I would have asked for privacy. They are conning the public and good ole Gerry has got the Press under his thumb. I wonder how much longer people are going to put up this. I'm amazed that they've done so for this long.

I'm with you on this one. Frankly, I can't get over the fact that the McCanns had time to go to a shrine today, but that one of them didn't travel to Morocco to chase up that lead with a private investigator!

The woman who claims to have seen Madeleine sounds very sure, and very genuine. Why on earth aren't the McCanns hiring a private eye??? It seems to defy all logic and common sense.

Good point there. But I am still waiting to hear them admit they were very wrong in the first place. They seem to be taking their time with the searching. If they started sooner they would have some information by now. The more time that passes the less chance of her been found.
