"Do the math" is a term generally used to mean "figure it out" and is usually used when you already know the answer to a problem or the answer is obvious. "You do the math" is used to draw a person's attention to what may be a glaringly obvious difference between options where one is clearly better than the others.

Do the math is clearly slang. It generally means "reach your conclusions", or "you go figure it out".
It generally has a negative connotation in the fact that the person who says it is probably pissed out and just doesn't bother to be polite.

It's similar to "go figure" or "check it out" or "take a closer look"

He's using it sarcastically to point out his race initiated a result of increased sales of ......

In conversation it's generally used in a sarcastic way...."My girlfriend came home and found me with her best friend...do the math." (put two and two together to figure out the outcome)
