You have to boot from either a Windows CD or a boot floppy with the format program on it.

If you boot from a Windows CD, let it start through the set up process and right after you do the f8 to agree you will get an option to format and/or partition the hard drive.

If you want to do it from a floppy instead, go to http://bootdisk.com and download their program for creating a Windows 98 boot disk. Create a disk and bott from it. Once you get the command prompt, use the "format" command.

Just insert a Microsoft Windows XP CD and restart your computer. When it says in small font that "Press any key to boot from CD..." press a key and follow the clear instructions to format and reinstall Windows. If the "Press any key......" message doesn't show up, then restart your computer and press Del on your keyboard to enter BIOS settings. Change the primary boot drive to CD Drive and then restart to have the message.
