The only way to stop it is with birth control. The Depo Provera shot will stop periods completely for most women. There is also a pill ( I think it's called Seasonal) that makes it so you only have 4 periods a year. You can also stop your periods with any birth control pills simply by starting the next pack as soon as you finish the last active pill in your pack.

Hi Jessica,
The Food and Drug Administration is expected to approve the first contraceptive pill that is designed to eliminate periods as long as a woman takes it.
The pill is named Lybrel.
Doctors say they know of no extra risk to the new regimen, but some women are uneasy about the idea.
Eliminating menstruation is not a completely new concept. Because the hormones in birth control pills stop the monthly release of an egg and the buildup of the uterine lining, there is no need for the lining to shed - as occurs during true menstruation.
But since the advent of oral contraceptives in 1960, birth control pills typically have been designed to mimic the natural 28-day menstrual cycle to assure women using the pill that their bodies were functioning normally. The pills are usually packaged as regimens of 21 days of hormone pills and seven inactive pills.
The interruption of hormone therapy during the inactive part of the regimen induces bleeding that resembles a mild period but is, in fact, caused by instable hormone levels.
In recent years, drug makers have come out with new pill regimens that tinker with the 28-day cycle by increasing the number of hormone pills, creating a shorter span of bleeding.
The new Lybrel pill claimes to pretty much eliminate menstration for as long as you take it. The Web site www.fewerperiods.com explains how the pill works.
I hope this information is helpful.
Kind regards, wendy

Yes there is. Talk with your doctor. It depends on your reason for stopping your period. If there is a medical reason your doctor can write a prescription for continuous birth control. You just don't take a week off to have a period. Sometimes your body still wants to have one or a few during the year. It can reduce the symptoms of endometriosis, size of ovarian cysts, etc.
This will not mess up your physical or mental health. Talking with your doctor to get the facts is the best way to go.

Exercise a lot prior to going to camp. I am a medical assistant and hear that question asked a lot, they say stress, excessive exercise and a shot that they have can stop or delay a period. There are shots that can postpone periods and if you talk to your mother or another adult they could take you to the doctor to get the shot. Don't exercise too much I would hate for you to hurt yourself, I just know it does work and it over exercising can be dangerous.

Yeah there is a new birth control medication that came out. Talk to your OBGYN about it. I think it is called Lybrel. But it is not good for your body to go without a period. Your hormones will be all over the calender. Mood swings, and other postmenopausal syndromes. Do major research first before going to those extremes. Good luck!

Don't go for depo, I'm amazed its still on the market (three month shot).
Try Lybrel, like the answerer above said. Though I have not heard of the long term affects of it.
Personally I think having NO period is not healthy.
Try Seasonale. Four periods a year.

If you are on certain kinds of birth control, like Depo-Provera (sp?), you can decrease or eliminate your period. And, as a consequence, really mess up your body. I had an ex- on that, and it defintely messed up her physical and mental health. It's like saying, is there anything coming out that will make it possible to not sleep...sure maybe that could be done, but there will necessarily be radical consequences.
