Or "fruit is good because of its vitamins"
Or "fruits are good because of their vitamins"

Assuming they have vitamins. This is not a trick question.

Can I say all three?

Rather than Spiritually, this is historically a male thing... the "pants" use to have 2 legs and a diaper like thing between held together with a belt... seems that people didn't like freezing too much in the winter time to take care of a mad dash to the out house... and the name never was turned into a singular, for the two legs... the Bra on the other hand was once a Male War device for holding ammo for slings... I had to look this very question up a few years back... ME! I just looked for the war refference on the bra... not to be found any more... a carry over of the 9/11 hand weapon thing I guess... but I did get a good history of the Female Devices that are now known as a bra. .

The word fruit is a single group. Therefore, fruit is good because of its vitamins; because it contains vitamins.

"fruits are good because of their vitamins" is the most correct, b/c you're talking about all kinds of fruits, not just one piece or one type. It's like saying "fruits & vegetables."

if you are talking about many fruits, you would say:
Fruits are good because of their vitamins.

if you are only talking about one fruit, you would say:
A fruit is good because of it's vitamins.

when you are trying to figure this stuff out, think of it like this....would you say "tomatoe are good because of their vitamins"? sounds funny. substitute another similar word and see how it sounds.

hope that helps

Fruit as a non-countable concept is singular. Fruit is good. Fruits are good... if you are talking about all kinds of fruits (countable because you are talking about apples, bananas, oranges, etc.). So, you could get away with either one in this example, but you can't use the first one that you listed. "fruit are"

The word "fruit" is singular - fruit is good because of its vitamins, even though you are speaking generally about all fruits. The word "fruits" is plural. "Six years thou shall sow thy land and shall gather in the fruits therof" -- Ex. xxiii 10.
This can apply to many words which, in the singular, can refer to multiples, such as "woman" or "man."

if you're talking of a single fruit... it's "fruit is good because of its vitamins". if you're talking of lots of fruits then it is "fruits are good because of their vitamins"

i wouldn't recommend the use of "their" because fruits are inanimate objects and their is mostly used for living objects
