Once you "adopt" you can change the name. I have a lot that have kept the names I gave them but in most cases they responded so well to the names. Puppies names are always changed.

I had a pup I started calling Pooty. He pooped everywhere all the time so I called him pooty head. The family changed it to guiness. One of the kids still calls him pooty head (I bet that's the one that has to clean up)

I named a momma dog Chaney once cause she had been chained to the vets door. Get the story behind the name you may find it fits.

All the animal charities will let you choose your name for the animal that you want to adopt. Some will already have a name some wont, but you can change it to whatever you want

weather an organization will let your adopt an animal will be based on your living arrangements, and if they feel you can provide a good home for the animal.
Even if you get a registered animal from a breeder that has already named an animal you can always change what you call it.
Sometimes changing an animals name when it comes into a new environment helps the animal understand that the "rules" that it lives by have also changed and helps them make the adjustment better.

You can go to www.petfinder.com to find organizations where you can adopt an animal. You can change its name if you like. Both dogs and cats change names very easily. I changed the name of two of my dogs - no big deal - they had it down within a week.

Some animals brought into shelters are given names by shelter staff because they have no name to begin with. So the animal isn't even used to the name anyway.

To adopt an animal is a wonderful thing to do. But do you really need to name the animal to. If you look into animals eyes and say their name you will find it usually suits. Animals get used to their name and respond to it. TLC is the more important.

Yes, if you go to the animal shelter. The one by me requires that you have a fenced in yard if it's a big dog that you're adopting.
