yesterday, i asked if anyone thought the govt was price gouging us since bush and chaney have vested oil interests. a few people answered saying that they had to cut their ties to oil profits when they came to office, and we all know thats how its supposed to work.

my question today is: how many people think that bush and chaney completely washed their hands of their multi-billion dollar income from oil companies?

Washed their hands of it? No way, just put it on hold until they are out of office. Multi-billion dollar income? No way, as shareholders they get a profit from the multi-billion dollar profits from the oil companies they've invested in. Daddy Bush claimed income of over $800k last year, not a bad profit for investing the money WE pay him each year. All Daddy Bush has to do, once Baby Bush is out of office is sell him ( or give him) shares that he already owns, a Texas man will NEVER wash their hands of oil.

Why are high gas prices always the result of Bush and Cheney?
The gouging of Americans by the oil company's has been going on for a lot longer than Bush's 2 terms.
When Americans wake up and do something to fix the problem, we will see better gas prices.
Don't listen to the tree huggers and drill in Alaska and offshore Florida.
Pass legislation to require the auto manufacturers to produce more efficient machines.
Get off our duffs and really explore alternate fuel sources.
I live in SD which has to be one of the windiest states in the country. We have been "TALKING' about wind energy for years and as far as I can see aren't any closer to tapping into wind energy than we were when we started talking.
If the lack of refineries really is a problem, build more. We have been looking into this for years also.
If we are smart enough to drill in the US, make sure the resulting oil is left in the US and not exported to Japan.

I think they did, but you need to also look at all the politicians who have incredible amounts of stock in the oil industry. The Kennedy's have tons of stock. The Congress have much more control over oil than the President has. Why doesn't congress lower the taxes that they collect on that oil. Their tax profit is about .30 per gal while the oil industry is about .08 per gal. Looks like the Democrat congress found a good way to raise taxes without saying they raised taxes.

It HARDLY MATTERS!
Gas prices are primarily affected by the laws of supply and demand.
The billions of people living in China and India are buying cars (without pollution controls) as fast as they can.
The supply can't keep up with THEIR demand and neither of those countries supply gasoline.
Get the environmental extremists to relax and allow drilling and the building of refineries here - get rid of the "cafe" gas requirements and some relief will follow.
The problem can only be cured by alternate energy supplies and greater efficiency.
It isn't the fault of Bush and Chaney.

No I don't think they have completely washed their hands of the oil industry.... And I support Bush 100%!! I don't however think that we are in this war over oil.. If they weren't in Oil and had never had any ties to it... What would people say this war was over then?? They seen something to link to it and created the rest up on assuming it's true. You hear so much about it being over oil, but you never hear any hard core facts that supports the theroy. These same people who accuse him of that have about as much evidence as Bush had for the WMD's that were supposed to be in Iraq..

There has been little done to cover up the connections of politicians on both sides of the aisle with oil.

A very little time spent researching on the net will show you that bush and cheney are awash in oil profits. The republicans and democrats both tend to be that way because... that's where the money is.

Their financial records are public, so people who think they have oil ties could look it up. But the fact that they don't is inconvenient for these moron's fantasy world, so instead they just shout really loud, hoping to make it true.

Much like Hemingway above. No source. Just a baseless statement about the "obscene" amounts of money they are making.

Edit: Also see Gaspode above. Again, no reference, just BS.

Under Federal Law, the moment Bush and Cheney took office, they had to give up any vested interest in outside corporations, and give up any seats on any boards of directors.

For t hose of you who love to complain about KBR, Cheney had to give up that cushy money in order to take his job, as did Bush.

Again some will complain about the no-bid contract. I believe that President Clinton set that for KBR, because they are the only company in the world that can do what they do.

What percentage of oil companies' profits comes from selling gas to consumers? Do you know?

Do oil companies control the price of oil? Or does OPEC?

Do you know anything about how gas prices are determined?

Are you dumb?

Bush, Cheney and Rice earn an obscene income from their investments in various oil corporations.
