Jack's 'flashback' was definitely a flash forward. He met Kate on the island, the airline gave them a 'Golden Pass' for free flights, and he was talking about how leaving the island was a mistake. The thing that was a bit confusing was when he told the other doctor 'Go get my father, and if I'm more drunk than he his, fire me' since his father was dead. He was a bit dellusional anyway.

Future.
1. Jack had a Razr phone, which was made after 2004 when the plane crashed on the island.
2. We haven't seen Jack in a beard on any of his flashbacks.
3. He wasn't an alcoholic in any of his flashbacks.
4. Kate met him at the airport, if this was a flashback they wouldn't be acting like strangers on the island.

it was a flash forward no doubt about it, and the casket the person was a male with either a first name similar to Johnathan or a last name similar to Johnathan therefore my guess being Locke. Neither Jack or Kate liked Locke much, and my guess is he does them no favors for the next 3 seasons.

I am totally w/ cynnababy here.
It has to be the future because Jack tells Kate he keeps flying because he hopes the plane will crash back on the island, because they shouldn't have left. But if that is the case, why DID he mention Christian *Claire's and his father* if he's dead. Hey, this is LOST, dad doesn't have to be dead..look at Mikhail *Patchy*. He's been killed more times than Kenny!!
As for the coffin, my guess is Juliet..the funeral director told Jack nobody had been to visit "her"

it was obvious after kate showed up and they talked about going back that they were flash forwards. i was confused about the way jack talked about his father. his father was already dead and he was talking in the future like he was alive. i guess we will have to wait and see.

I'm pretty sure it was from the future, after they get rescued. I also think that it was Locke in the casket at the funeral home.
