Immigration issues, Getting troops out of Iraq, Health care system, environmental issues and what we can regulate or change in the way Americans consume energy, gasses and try to reduce pollution. I would pretty much be looking for a candidate that will reverse a lot of what Bush did. Worst president we've had!!! I'm looking for Hillary or Barack do really make some changes. I'd also like to look for some way to handle the gas price issue. Americans are being raped by oil tycoons.

The only issues that matter. Does the candidate abide by the Consitution and representative Republic (not Democracy) that this country was founded on? Does he understand what is meant by individual, state, and federal rights and which of those comes first? Does he know the role of the president; that the president is a representative of the people, and not a leader?

Like Alan Dershowitz said in "Supreme Injustice: How the High Court Hijacked Election 2000," this country is in desperate need of a better set of Supreme Court Justices. We need GREAT Sup. Ct. Justices, not mediocrities. And, like Robert Bork said in "The Tempting of America," we need Justices who are dedicated to "the original understanding," of the Constitution.
I take for granted that neither party has a candidate who will speak to those issues. So I don't plan on voting at all.

For me -
national security/terrorism
immigration
the economy
judicial appointments
government spending
(not necessarily in that order)
I am more on the "conservative" side. Someone more liberal might mention health care, minimum wage, etc.
PS I forgot energy and the environment. Also, social issues like abortion and same-sex marriage tend to come up in our elections. Embryonic stem-cell research too.

You named it. Iraq will be at the top, followed by Personal Freedoms, Environment, & Health Care. The far right will throw in gay marriage just to get people going. It worked well for them last time. But since they don't actually plan legislation, it's all propaganda.

1 Secure the border and uphold the law and constitution.
2 Bring the troops home, we can't fight terrorists around the world with an army.
3 Affordable health care. While gas and oil sales in 2006 were $156. billion, prescription drug sales were $274.9 billion.
4 Stop taxing the elderly for their home and schools.
5 Improve the education in America so we don't have to import people with science and technology degrees from other countries.
That will do for starters.

Education, Health Care, Economy and the War are all thing that I will be looking at when the candidates give their speeches and arguments in the debates when it comes time.

Immigration is the issue that I am most concerned with. I am so sick of the weak response of our current government's refusal to enforce the laws about illegal aliens.
I am thinking of voting for Tom Tancredo... Take a look at his thoughts on the Amnesty Bill.
