A ski lift is carrying skiers up a hill at an upgrade of 30%. If the skiers ascend 960 feet, what horizontal distance have they traveled?

slope = rise/run

slope of 30% = 0.3 or 3/10

if they ascend 960 feet then they traverse 960 x 10 / 3 feet

= 9600/3 ft

= 3200ft

30% upgrade is really just gradient of 3/10
If the skiers travel 960ft up, then horizontally, they travel
960*10 / 3
= 3200ft
