I "THINK" I used to watch "Dark Shadows" years ago but I am not 100% positive. So, I purchased the first DVD Collection DVD # 1 and I started watching it last night.

It does appear that I used to watch it on television.

The only thing I am not sure about is whether or not there was always a narrator descrbing the scenes / situations as it was happening...The narrator is kind of telling the story at the same time I am watching the video. Its kind of a second by second play by play. Is this how the original show was? Or is this something new they included with the making of the DVD collection.

Well the first 30 or so minutes of the first DVD is commentated because its all unimportant. It just describes all the happenings before and up to the arrival of Barnabas Collins, when the show really took off (the first 200 or so episodes). I can tell you that there is no narration for the remainder of the collection. I have up to volume 10 so at least that far there has been no narration since. Also they ARE set to release those 200+ episodes in separate DVD collections, set to release by the end of this summer.

I watched Dark Shadows when it was on TV (the fist time!)...it was considered a "soap opera"..I remember there being a lead-in narrative ("Yesterday on Dark Shadows"....)..but I know it did NOT have a play-by-play...did you buy a version for the sight-handicapped???
