It depends on your situation. If you are not in a monogamous relationship with someone who is monogamous with you, or you haven't both been tested for STDS... your b.c. needs to include condoms. Condoms are reasonably effective, and certainly dirt cheap.

If you know you will never want to have kids, then the permanent techniques for sterilization: vasectomy, tubal ligation, and the new Essure are the best choice for you: highly effective and pretty much effort free after the initial surgery and followup.

The best b.c. if you may want to someday have kids but want more protection than condoms alone is the hormonal methods (and the copper-T IUD, but that's fairly unpopular here in the US and many docs won't give it to you if you already haven't had a baby). The hormonal methods are the pill, the patch, the ring, the shot, the implant, and the Mirena (hormonal IUD). Which of these is right for you depends on your lifestyle: they are all about equally effective. The pill has by far the most varieties and options, is widely available in cheap generic versions, and is *really* easy to get.

Homosexuality is a good form of birth control! I'd say abstinence, but people are going to have sex! Haha, really though, sterilization is probably the most effective and then something like a IUD, hormonal contraceptives and then barrier methods like condoms.

Abstinence is always the best form of birth control.

For a list of birth control options and their success rate, take a look at the following pages:

Abstinence! The condom is probably the second best followed by the birth control pill.

Abstinence.

Other than that all forms of birth control work good. As long as you follow the instructions properly.

Not having sex at all is best.

The pill and condom are 2nd best. It's even better if the pill is used with a spermacide or the condom is used with a diaphragm.

abstinence. however, if you are in a monogamous relationship or married, the Mirena IUD is great and lasts for five years. you can use it even if you have hbp or other health problems and can't use the pill.
