What memory should I look for when upgrading my laptop? It already has two 512mb sticks of RAM.

a) Is it worth making it up to 2GB ram with two 1GB sticks? will I see many benifits if I only use it for average games, multiple microsoft applications?

b)Where can I buy it? any links?

c) How much will it cost?

If you are running low on memory, then upgrade to more. Usually, 1GB is enough though.

It may be worth it to you. $168 is a steal, however, this thing's stats are straight out of 2002, if that. It doesn't run Windows, which is why the price is so low, and it's also refurbished, which means it was broken at one point yet professionally repaired by a technician. If you're willing to learn how to use Ubuntu Linux and sacrifice major speed, you might be OK. However, if you're looking to save money, allow me to suggest a Netbook: Netbooks are tiny, lightweight, and yet they still run Windows (usually Windows XP). The new Intel Atom processors in netbooks are tiny, cheap, and run at low temperatures, yet they still pack a pretty decent punch - enough for accomplishing basic word processing/office tasks and web browsing without noticing a major speed decline. In sort, my recommendation is to get a netbook. While this thing is cheap, you're going to have a major learning curve, and probably wish you never bothered in the first place.

Go to the following link, http://www.crucial.com/uk they can do an on line check which will determine which ram your motherboard supports. They will recommend the optimum amount. You can order on line and although they are not the cheapest it is worth paying for good ram. They guarantee compatibility with your motherboard and give an excellent warranty. They lso give fitting instructions. I have used them many times and always been satisfied. Hope this helps.

I don't think its worth taking it over 1gb yet, especially as you'll have to remove a 512mb to do this.

go to www.crucial.com/uk for their uk site and they can advise you what you need.

Newegg.com or Tigerdirect.com has prices and reviews of all different Ram.

if you have a 1gig now of ram, I wouldn't say you would see a "huge" performance difference.
