It's the DIY shows on TV. They seem to be using it a lot lately. Kind of like the faux painting techniques. People see it on the tube and think they want it until they find out they need instructions before jumping into it. Last year it was a plastering technique. Home Centers were selling it and then all the DIY Forums I go to had people wanting to know what they did wrong.

Wainscoting and crown moulding is found in the more expensive homes , so if you can add this feature to your home it wiil make a huge difference to the overall look of your home ,why not? We added this feature to our home and painted the rooms a very warm color(Harvest Spice the second color on this palette) contrasting white on the ceiling, moulding and wainscoting. We have oak hardwood floors with a high gloss in every room except the three bathrooms(large ceramic tiles) ,that should last five years or more. Everyone that has visited since we moved in complimented the warm color, wainscoting, moulding and the floors. We are very grateful how the house turned out because fire destroyed our home and we were blessed to get a bigger HOUSE with added features.

GOOD QUESTION!!! I was wondering the exact same thing yesterday. I don't watch any of those home improvement shows, but maybe one of those made a deal about wainscoting recently?

LOL....I think it is now considered trendy to have "wainscoting" in your home, even though it has been around longer than I have been alive!

It's back in a big way for those that follow the design fads. Whether it is done with tongue and groove, MDF or even wallpaper, people want it and want to know how to do it.
