well....i agree with you that it's stupid
but people will get mad at you for using the word "real"
it is scripted and the outcomes are predetermined.
which keeps it from being anywhere near a sport.
people actually make contact a lot of the time and people often get hurt.....so the injuries and the athleticism are both real
For some reason, a lot of people seem to like it though....
and a lot of them are ignorant/biased enough to make idiotic statements like "it's a sport" or "So and So is the best wrestler"

Look im a WWE fan and heres the answer: Its fake yes the punches, kicks, chairshots and submission moves are all fake but the slams ARENT! As a wise man once said "You cant fake gravity".
Its not a sport because even WWE call it "Sports Entertainment" It isnt a sport its entertainment. I and many other fans watch it for the comedy parts of matches as well as high risk moves where something could seriously go wrong. The between match acting is pretty naff but every once in a while you get people like Edge, DX, Hulk Hogan and The Rock who can give people an entertaining piece of mic work.
Some match types are boring and obviously fake like Buried Alive Matches but its all for the entertainment. If you dont like it dont watch it but dont critisise the people who do like it for what it is.

In my opinion, and I am a wrestling fan so I will try as hard as I can to explain it clearly. In my opinion for the fans it is not whether or not it is fake, its not about whether they act out and its just one big soap opera.
What it is for wrestling fans are the fire works, the drama and action, the high flying moves, the explosions, the live events, the PPV's, and the Wrestlemanias. For the wrestling fans it is just about the hype and all of the excitement and the action. I hope that I have helped a little bit. If you have any more questions don't hesitate to ask.

The storylines and match bookings are scripted but when the actual match starts it's up to the wreslters to put on a good show with good wrestling.
So to answer your question, its real and not real at the same time (Hope you understand what I just mentioned) .
And yeah the acting scenes aren't as good as they were before so I wouldn't blame you for not liking it so much.

Well. I think people like it because the story lines. Sure, they're a lot like soap operas, but -these- particular ones are much more violent..and have pretty lights.
