Median Price for a single family home is about $240,000. (Down 2 years in a row from a high of $265,000)The closer to the center of town, houses are more expensive.

It is a 'buyers' market as the inventory of homes and condos is very large right now at houses are not moving. Even at these slightly depressed prices almost any property is worth twice what it was 5 years ago

Orlando is definitely cheaper than where I live in Florida. Do you plan on working there? Since it's such a high tourist area, a lot of jobs are low paying. The traffic on I-4 can be horrible at times when the parks close. As all big cities are, there are certain areas you don't want to live, so you might want to consider finding a real estate agent to guide you to the more desirable neighborhoods. And it won't hurt to learn a bit of Spanish too! :-)

Well real estate is less expensive in Central Florida than it is in other areas of the country like California and the mid-atlantic states. But the cost of living down in Orlando isn't that much cheaper than it is in say Virginia or Maryland. Of course there's no state income tax, so you get a break there and auto insurance rates are cheaper, depending on your insurance carrier and how good your driving record is. Orlando is very much a tourist town with Disney, Epcot, Universal Studios, Wet & Wild. It's about 2 hours to Tampa and 3-3.5 hours to Sanibel Island, Naples, Marco Island. About an hour to Cocoa Beach. 3 hrs to Miami. Florida has much to offer. There is so much to see and do in Florida on all coasts.

I would estimate approx 2 thirds of the UK house price. Its not like being in the EU. You cant just up sticks and move to the USA like you can move around Europe. They have quite strict laws governing that sought of thing
Good Luck
No problem buying a house there but without the necessary documentation your limited to a 90 day stay

Depending where you are coming from......

There is a lot and I mean a lot of crime in Orlando. This extends to the suburbs and neighborhoods surrounding the city.

The homes can be affordable. The most bang for your buck can be found in Davenport. If crime doesn't concern you then Poinciana is affordable.

Do you really want to move here??

Orlando does have constrained mass transit, yet i flow to flow away this area of the rustic as a results of fact the climate isn't conducive for strolling around or waiting for bus provider (often the two thunderstorms with conventional lightning or its ninety+ with a great variety of bugs, etc.). the common public transportation could probable be ok for a winter flow to to the subject material parks area (Disney has a monorail connecting the parks to their inns). although, the common public transit equipment could probable be no longer common to apply for longer distance journeys. in case you wanted to stay in Florida 3 hundred and sixty 5 days around and use public transit, your terrific bets could be to stay in the two Miami, Miami sea coast or Key West. There they have somewhat some routes that run often. additionally in the coastal areas its somewhat extra tolerable waiting for a bus (no longer as warm, no longer as stormy).
