We are new to Wilmette and I have two kids: 4 and 2.

Any recommendations of kid friendly things to do? Any places where they can run around and play? I can't even find a McDonald's Playland here. Any fountains where they can splash around? Any restaurants or coffee shops that have places to play for the kids too?

Kohl's Children Museum is now in Glenview at the corner of West Lake Ave and Patriot Blvd.
Go to Gilson Park. It is at the end of Lake Ave in Wilmette. There are plenty of parks in Wilmette. Get the catalog from the Wilmette Park District.
West Lake Ave is not the same street as Lake Ave. Lake Ave is the same as East Lake Ave in Glenview and Euclid Ave.
I come from Glenview, and I can't think of a McDonald's Playland in this area.
There really aren't that many Chuck E Cheeses in the area. There use to be one in Niles, but it closed.
There might be one in the area surrounding Old Orchard in Skokie.
Northbrook Court does have an inside playground for kids.

There's the Kohl's Children's Museum. I believe it's in Wilmette or Glenview....

We live in the city, so I know what's going on down here. There's obviously Lincoln Park Zoo, the Nature Museum (which is about 200 yards north of the Linclon Park Zoo parking lot), another larger children's museum at Navy Pier. We had a membership to the Museum of Science and Industry -- that's my favorite museum for kids. Lots of cool stuff there. Shedd Aquarium is good to check out every once in a while.

If you're on the near north shore, you could be downtown in less than 30 minutes.

There's always a Chuck E. Cheese somewhere close by....

One other option I forgot about is Lamb's Farm, which is up north off 94. Lamb's Farm has seen better day, but they offer support for the mentally handicapped and I think they also take in some neglected animals.
