Well I have rented 3 apartments in life, and been approved virtually on the spot without any kind of credit or history check.

I would adivse that you be ready and willing to put down a higher security deposit, as well as up to two months rent. If you can do this many landlord will not even run a credit check. So know need to let them know about your foreclouser. I can almost gaurentee you someone will approve you.
