You are President. It's now past 9/11. Saddam, a man who has already invaded two of his neighbors previously, has kicked out weapons inspectors. The UN issues another resolution and Saddam refuses to go along. You have some intelligence that indicates that Saddam might have WMD's but you aren't sure. (The last sentence is hypothetical. We don't know what Bush knew, but let's try to keep it as neutral as possible.)

My question is, "What would you do as President?", and try to keep your discussions as objective as possible.

Personally, I'm pretty much a hothead when someone attacks me.
I would declare a state of national emergency
ground all except military aircraft
close the borders
request the congress to declare war
initiate the war machine
bomb the Med into a green, glowing glass parking lot.

Aren't you glad that I wasn't president on that day?

Don't forget, you are still in a state of war with Iraq since Dessert Storm was only stopped by a cease-fire agreement and Saddam has been violating the terms ever since. You also have about 17 U.N. resolutions demanding that Saddam comply with weapons inspectors etc. Saddam has been firing at your airplanes enforcing the cease-fire agreement's 'No Fly Zone".

I wish this type of question could be sprung on democrats in their debates. Of course you can expect pretty much every democratic candidate to say what he or she would not do but you would have no success getting democrats to say what they would do because they don't know what they would do.
My guess is they would go back to the U.N. and get another resolution or three.

I will in the same way as it was in Afghanistan in 80-s. I want dealer war to the Saddam but I will start some kind of the civil war and support rebellions with money, weapon and Rambo-movies. Then Saddam will be busy with his inner affairs. If this guy will use the WMD's ill go to the crusade with 99.9 % rate.

I would gather enough information to back up the claim that Saddam has WMD's and if It weren't good enough for the "UN" I would go another route of removing the evil dictator who has been a problem for our country and several others, by Calling my strike against them "Operation Freedom" to liberate the people of Iraq and free them of their terrorist leader. Then I would Have our Military search for the WMD's not only in Iraq but in neighboring countries such as "Syria", I wouldn't suggest ever that Saddam had terrorist ties to Al-Queda... Instead I would show that he didn't have any direct links to them but instead some of the people of his Regime had ties to them which in result would indirectly make him a terrorist supporter. Then I would train the New Iraqi military how to defend their own country and gradually pull our forces back home.

Saddam only posed a threat to his neighbors with any of his weapons . Yes it is conceivable that a bio weapon could be smuggled into America and used to kill millions of people but that would mean the end of any country who would do that . Lets go back to just before he invaded Kuwait and had discussed with then president Bush the problem he was having along his southern border with slant drilling and Our President suggested that he could invade Kuwait . We suggested that he could attack Iran and to that end supplied him with many weapons .
You can never take a single incident as it stands alone and ever make the proper decision .

Let us start with I would continue to deal with dismantling al-qaida in Afghanistan where those responsible for 9/11 were trained, funded and hiding.. I don't believe I would damn near abandon that mission to go ahead and kick the weapons inspectors out of Iraq to invade a nation that may I add has never once attacked the USA,

Using hind sight, I would do nothing. I would use my position as President to do all the evil that the morons on the left accuse me of. In fact I would have wet work operators going around and erasing my enemies just for fun.

I would investigate further, ESPECIALLY if I wasn't sure. War is a necessary evil, but it is not to be entered into lightly.

It amazes me that some of the same people who think women make the abortion decision without a second thought, and degrade those women based on that belief, will support a man who launched a violent military invasion of another country without a second thought, and cheer him for it.
