The taxman....I have told him to back off but I get the feeling his reverse gear ain't working too well.

As you say, I SUFFER in silence.
Therefore either I tell them to back off or just walk away ignoring people and subjects!

My Children kept treading on my toes until I would pick them up...

I learned to love both...

And miss it now, that they are old enough, not to want to be picked up, or tread on my toes...

I say please get off my toes and my back. It is odd how people can get on your back and step on your toes at the same time.
