2 weeks ago I had a real compliment from friends, they had taken me for for my surprise leaving party and made me feel like a princess.

They helped me with hair and make up. (I dont have a clue with all that) They told me how nice I was and what made me special it was good to hear and at just the very right time.

Honestly, I don't know mate... All I know is that it's always nice getting compliments and this world ain't very generous with them... that's why we should pay little compliments whenever we can... even when we don't mean it...

Tell you a story here... I was going to work one day and a young boy stopped me and asked, "Do you think I'd make it to the team in the selection today?"

I replied, "Sure buddy... if you think you can, you can"... and I rushed onto the train... Did I mean what I said? I think it was more a casual reply...

11 years later, I was gunning for an advertisement project for Adidas and I was up against some of the top names in the industry... I was nervous and I was not too confident...

When it was my turn to present, I was called into the room and my prospects were all there... the product manager, the marketing manager, the star players endorsing the product, etc...

Then one of the star players stood up and said, "hey guys, could we give the advertising contract to this guy? If not for him, I wouldn't had been here"...

That was the same boy... and I didn't even know him then... what I said 11 years ago cost me nothing... but it made a difference in that boy's life... Today, what that young star said has very little effort on his part... but it earned me a contract...

Does it pay to pay a little compliment from time to time? I'd say "YES" to it anytime...

The last time i got a compliment was last Friday night at my nieces wedding. I am 50 and the girls at the beauty shop straightened my hair. Everyone told me how great I looked. I wore a great dress, and took time with my make up. I had a little tan from the sun, so that helped some.

Oh well, I used to get complimented all the time when i was younger, but at 50 you do not hear it too much. I do not go out dressed up all the time either, and looking hot is not as important as it used to.

At 50, you seem to care more about your stiffness and your health, instead of your beauty.

TODAY! I have been on a diet for the last month (about 40-50 poounds overweight) anyway...I tried on a jean skirt i haven't been able to wear in a yr. hoping my husband would notice that i have lost about 11-12 lbs so far. he came home from work and i pretended i was upstairs until i knew he was in the kitchen...i came down and went in the kitchen too like real sneaky pretending i didn't even know he was home...he said exactly "wow! damn honey i guess you really have been working hard, since i don't have to work tomorrow, take the kids to mom's while i take a shower and i will have a nice surprise when you get back!" I did what he asked and when i got back he had a romantic table set w/ some marvin gaye on and he was cooking a pasta dinner of some sort....the rest of the night is......

While I have been recuperating from numerous back surgeries and haven't really gotten dressed up, plus I had to lose 20 plus pounds, which I did. Well, my husband's nephew passed away and I had the chance to put on some makeup and an appropriate dress and shoes. My husband complimented me all day long, I guess it was because I got to show off my legs, which he feels is my biggest asset. Either way, even in spite of the circumstances, it made me feel just great. God Bless.

The last time I got a major compliment was after my baby was born. I had recently gotten out of an abusive relationship with my baby's father prior to the baby's birth. I hadn't looked like myself in a long time. My best friend and I went to the movies. When she came to pick me up, she said "now that's my girl right there...that's what I'm used to seeing you look like". I felt so good because I was trying to get back to normal. I was fighting the low self-esteem as well as the not-so-perfect body that wouldn't fit into any of my pre-pregnancy clothes! It was a rough journey, but I'm grateful that I'm better now. I've probably had more compliments since then, but that was my most memorable.

Its 15 days back when I got a hair cut . It was a shock for my freinds as since last 9 years I haven't gone with any changes in my personality and that too with my hairs.I have a waist length hair and i got the front sholder length flicks and the rest hairs with the same length which gives me a young look and a confidence also and above all a new change from my boring hairstyle that i use to carry earlier i.e either a bun or a plait.
My husband, freinds and my son reacted to my haircut very positively and said it was very much needed.

Actualy, never!
My husband never tells me You are beautiful or You look nice or wherever...
Less than a month ago, I asked for divorce and he did not accepted it...
I said that I would be leaving the house...with nothing...that I just wanted to leave and live...
Well, he said everything but I love you and I cannot live without you...
and last week I was wearing everyday clothes, that I wear to work and he said that I was looking good...
He never compliments me, not even when I color and cut my hair and I come home with a new visual.
He doesn't even realizes that I look different...
And just FYI I look 15 years younger than I realy am, without any plastic surgery or implants help... At least is what everyone tells me, friends or just acquaintances.

This morning. I get complimented often by my boyfriend as well as my co-workers and friends. I care about how I look and I don't settle for substandard hair care, cosmetic or personal hygiene products. I use top of the line products that are guaranteed to do what they claim...The only product from Dove that is or has ever been any good is the bath soap...the haircare line is too harsh and damages the natural pH balance of every-ones hair and the claimed non-marking antiperspirant/deodorant does leave marks and does not last as long as other higher quality brands.

A couple of days ago. I've been loosing a lot of weight (since my twins were born in August 2005 I lost 37 kgs, and I'm 44 y.o.), and he noticed a large improvement on that area LOL
My clothes are all soooooo big I cannot use them anymore and I asked hubby to buy me some as a gift. He said "no chance" and then he looked at me and said: Wow! You are really getting much thiner! You are looking much better! You cannot dress these big clothes anymore!
And I felt good with myself although I have several kgs yet to loose.
Everybody likes to ear some compliment, right?
Hugs
Margarida

I've recently lost 20 lbs, so I have had people noticing and commenting on that. Also, if I "do" my hair or wear a nicer-than-usual outfit. (I am a mom to a 2 year old and usually I just put my hair up in a clip and wear a tank top and cotton capris). The best compliment of all is when people notice the weight loss, because it shows me that the hard work I've been putting in is not going unrecognized.
