Depends on the plant. Some plants do better than others indoors. Some just don't like it. Indoor plants have to deal with more than just lighting issues. Indoors tend to be more dry and have less airflow which can affect them greatly. Winter, when most people bring their plants indoors has weaker sunlight so it may not be enough. If windows are treated with uv inhibitors it can also block vital rays.

Plants can thrive inside if they get enough sunlight, food and water. You do need to be careful about the sun coming through glass. It can be a lot stronger and hotter. Diffused light or setting plants back from window would be better.

Sure!! Give a south window in the winter and an east or west in the summer. Put outside in the summer for best results. Best to make the change to outside when you are going to have a couple of cloudy days or shade and water well for a few days.

I've had good luck with geraniums indoors during winter (in the Midwest US). They actually bloom like crazy all winter long when placed in a room in my house that stays warm and has lots of good southern exposure.
Hope that helps!
