Unfortunatly I am unable to handle going to the cemetery. It hits home way to hard since there is only one person I would see--my daughters father.

Never-and mean never-my parents are buried in the next town an d I go right by the cemetery but don't go in. They are not there and they do not know if anyone is visiting them.
People go, whether they realize it or not, because it gives THEM the comfort. People believe it is out of respect how can that be true when the person is dead and knows nothing about the visits! It has always puzzled me. And don't misjudge me, I loved them deeply and will see them some day again.

This question really makes me feel guilty. I don't go often enough, generally once a year on their birthday, but lately I have missed a few. Being closer to the remains does not make the memories more vivid, and the flowers are for the living. My love for the deceased is not diminished by my lack of attention to the grave site.

Whenever I go home which is usually twice a year. The last time I stopped to get my Grandmother flowers and my sister said, "She's not there, so I don't know why you leave flowers." I said, "Our Grandmother always left flowers for her loved ones, it's a sign of respect."

my family members graves are across the country from me, so hardly ever.
The one person I've lost since being here, I have only been to his grave once since the funeral 16 years ago. I can't find the strength to go back. I just think about him all the time, and hope he knows my feelings.

I kinda feel bad about this - I haven't been to my parents graves since they died. Nor my grandparents. I don't think its heartless - I think its because there is no closure issues. I would like to go see them (their headstones and make sure their final resting places are well kept) sometime but not yet.

Never. No close relative of mine has died. Even if they do I don't think I'll go to the grave site. I don't understand that ( i'm not knocking anyone that does, I just don't get it) The person can't hear you and is no longer there his/her soul has already left to go to its destination.
