Physiologically It causes brain damage.
Psychologically it causes paranoia and increases chance of early dementia due to damage to the short term memory centers of the brain.
In females it also damages their eggs (since girls are born with all their eggs), creating more chance of future babies with downs, low IQ, and behavioral issues like depression, ADD, and ADHD.
It does provide a "high", but it's just not worth the loss.

To the answerer below who gave the thumbs down and provided a link to the alzheimer's article, I say this:
1) Alzheimers is NOT the only form of dementia. Most people who get dementia, don't develop the tangles and plaque deposits characteristic of Alzheimers.
2) The only time TCH reduces the intensity of Alzheimers is in it's late stages where the person doesn't even recognize family members. At that point it may help with the brain inflamation resulting in a slight decrease of Alzheimers manifestation.
The Dementia that's exacerbated by marijuana use is the one which causes a person in their 50's and 60's to lose a great portion of their short term memory.... not remembering what they've just read, what they've just asked, where they parked, who they've just met. Shrt term memory dementia IS brought on by marijuana use whether you like it or not. If you ever get late stage Alzheimers then you can advocate pot.

Your argument is like saying that because late stage cancer patients benefit from Morphine, so morphine is a good choice for all pain. The logic the answerer uses is severly flawed. Thank God people with this logic aren't scientists, because we wouldn't even have discovered antibiotics.

It is proven that the active ingredient in marijuana, THC, impedes dementia in Alzheimers. Additionally, medicinal doses provides relief to chronic pain sufferers.

Here's the Science Daily Article:
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2006/10/061009031544.htm

There has been no evidence or research into effects of marijuana during pregnancy on the child that is born. so, the smart thing to do is not to use it -- by choice.

Legalize it.

It should be restricted to people above a certain age, and as to when/where it can be used, similar to alcohol. I would never use it, but I think that people who want to should be able to as long as they meet all the conditions. All the money the government wastes trying to stop this drug from being used is ridiculous.
