First, the Aztecs did not come from anywhere. It is a term used to refer to a number of tribes that were brought together in the Valley of Mexico in about the 13th century. This is perhaps why you have a bit of misunderstanding about the time and place.
Second, the Aztecs reached their peak of power in the 14th and 15th centuries, immediately before the arrival of the Spanish, Cortez.
Thirdly, sometimes the term Aztec can be a little misleading because it is not a static term with defined boundaries and membership. Often the Aztec tribe can include several allies, at other times these alliances are included as separate.
