To save space on your hard drive, Windows will compress some of the files that you rarely or never use. If there are compressed files within a directory, it will color the directory so you know that. (You would want to know that the files are compressed if you are planning to copy or move them, because that will uncompress them and take up more space on your hard drive).

There is also a setting which tells Windows to display any directories that you are seeing on another computer by sharing as a different color.

Open My Computer, select Tools, select Folder Options, select View and scroll down to "Show encrypted or compressed NTFS files in color".

If you make any changes, click Apply, then click OK. Might take a reboot for the settings to stick.

Folders with Blue Text means they were compressed to free up drive space.
