I think there is some way of having benefit help yes, also the mortgage could offer you an interest only payment for a year or so until you are back on your feet.

Housing Benefit is only paid to people in rented accomodation. Unemployed people can claim Income Support to help pay mortgage payments, but it is VERY LIMITED. eg. no help at all for the first few months, then only on mortgages of 100K or less, and only with interest payments, not capital repayments. People in rented accomdoation get a much better deal !

.Under certain circumstances after being unemployed for 6 months you can get a limited amount of help. The rules have changed you used to be able to claim immediately but with employment becoming transient it became to complex.

The most likely event is that the person concerned will need to sell their home. A lot of people make the mistake of trying to hang on too long, this results in debt being bigger than the value and then they lose everything through repossession.

There are lots of benefits but these all depend on personal circumstances and have to be looked at individually. Families with children will get more help than single people for instance.

Not really, its why people have their home repossesed. House reposessions is the highest it's ever been mostly due to lenders lending up to 5 times a salary. Because the housing market is rising, the lenders aren't worried about repossesions as the know they will sell the property on an auction and get more than they lent in the first place.

You should only borrow what you know you can afford and that includes if yuo are unemployed for 6 months.

No such program unless you qualify under some for the aid to the permanently disabled. There are no benefits for you, and even if they were, you would not get close to the amount to pay a mortgage. Unemployment benefits aren't going to cut it!

Only those on corporate welfare get all the beanies!

You have insurance's set up for redundency etc.. which pay your mortgage for you for a few months but I don't think you can claim any benefit's to pay mortgage as benefits only pay I think up to £75 per week and most people's mortgage's are a lot more!

no. the benefits agency pay towards the mortgage. but only after a set amount of time, either nine months or a yr. and then they only pay the interest part of the mortgage payment.

yes the dss pay it depending on the amount, it used to be around £50pw and if the mortgage is higher than that then you either pay the difference or get into debt although if you sell your property and have to pay for a sub let they will pay you £75pw for rent, where the sense in this.

A a&h insurance policy would help, but I don't believe unemployment alone would do anything.
