I may get some things wrong because I don’t remember everything and I can’t remember all the details that lead me to believe what I do now, but I honestly think that Jack’s Dad isn’t dead. In the first few episodes we soon realized that Jack was on the plane to bring his fathers body home after his death, mind you I don’t remember if we have found out how he died. Jack thinks he sees his father in different places, and he may in fact have. It’s hard to sort who’s really seeing who because we have seen hallucinations time and time again, an example of that being Mr. Echo’s brother, and Hurleys imaginary friend Dave. I think a few others as well but I can’t remember at the moment. Anyways the point is it is hard to tell weather all these hallucinations are real or not. Jack finds his Dad’s Casket in the cave and it is empty. The only explanation is that while falling though the air the body fell out while in midair or something like that, but what is he wasn’t in the casket to begin with? I know this theory isn’t well supported but I started to wonder if maybe this great man the others speak of is Jack’s Dad. The only thing to make me think this is because He has been seen in so many people’s memories and as we’ve seen he is not only Jack’ father but Claire’s as well. Maybe he picked people to be on the plane and in his own twisted way got some of them to get on the plane. In one episode we see that the fortune teller, who was so insistent on sending Claire to L.A. because the only one other couple was allowed to raise her baby, was actually a con. At least that is what he told Mr. Echo. A preconceived notion I had, as I’m sure many did, was that the Fortune teller knew the plane was going to crash and she would survive on it and therefore sent her on the plane in search of false hope, thus stuck on an Island and forced to raise the baby herself. Yet later when I found out that the fortune teller was a fraud I was convinced that someone payed him to do it. Weather is be Jack’s Dad or not someone is behind it and purposely choose these people, almost as is it were an experiment.
And no, I hope Charlie is NOT dead - why didnt he just swim through the port hole?!?!

We'll see if they're still on the island at the beginning of next season. It's really a brilliant point to end the show on, no one really knowing what in the world is going on. Are they going to show how they get rescued off the island? Or are they going to start with Jack organizing a giant migration back to the island, and tell us what happened between the rescue and this point in time through flashbacks? Or was this even real? It could possibly be a premonition of Desmond's on what will happen if they get rescued.
An easy way to explain Jack's little outburst is on the drugs. The oxycodon might have been messing with his brain and he was out of sorts.
If they indeed do get rescued, then Charlie had to die. that was how Desmond saw it, so that's how it had to happen. It was his destiny to die, the universe had his number.
But maybe Desmond goes ape and tears off the hatch door in the looking glass, saving Charlie (and quite possibly future Jack), causing everything to go into a different twist.
We shall see!
Lost is so compelling isn't it?

Jack wasn't having flashbacks, he was thinking about what his future would be like if he got off the island. When he mentioned hid dad he was drunk and high on Oxycodon, a drug that can be seriously addicting, it's a painkiller. In his last flash of the future, when he was talking to Kate about "going back", he was talking about going back to the island. The whole reason he was thinking of the future is because he was gonna tell Kate he loved her. Since Ben and Locke keep saying not to leave the island he was thinking about how his future would be ruined with Kate if they ever did get rescued.
Charlie is most likely dead.

I'm with Tbtrfli. I've never believed Jack's father was dead. Don't know why, just didn't. And it's not just that Jack saw him on the Island, Kate saw a stupid horse too. There's just something about Jack's father, the whole power trip thing he had going on, how he met Sawyer in the bar, I can't really explain it, but I can see him being a member of Dharma and the whole God-complex thing.

If Charlie made it to the door, why didn't he just jump on the other side and lock it? He could have gotton to the diving equipment before the place flooded. WTF with Penny on the monitor?? Was Walt real?
I think it was a flashforward with Jack and the drugs and beard. Clearly he is confused and regreting his decision to leave--but who the F*CK would want to stay there if they could go home? I think it was Juilette in the casket, but my first thought was Ben--only why would Jack cry over that psycho? I don't think that Charlie is dead - hopefully in death they have better facial hair than the one he was sporting!!

Charlie is dead. When Jack was talking about his father he was drunk and high so there is no guarantee he was lucid enough to remember his father was dead. I see Charlie making appearances in flashbacks or maybe as a type of ghost or something.

Sorry, I think Charlie is dead (go to the TV section of Yahoo and read the Lost Redux and she talks w/ the producers and they tell her why). Also, for some reaason I don't think that it's his dad although the island can do anything. It does really suck that we have to wait until Feb.

Ever considering the fact that i replaced into little and til immediately time i've got continually referred to as my mum "Mummy" and my dad "Daddy". purely as a results of fact they by no ability replied to "mum"/"dad". and that's often caught, i assume. same with my siblings, too. I swear each and every time my mom calls me at artwork, and that i answer asserting "hi, mummy", i'm getting the main strangest looks from my artwork colleagues. They continually locate that hilarious and usually take the mic. and that i'm able to relatively see why that's humorous lol yet, that's by no ability replaced, and that i doubt it is going to. mom and dad will continually be Mummy and Daddy. And specifically as a results of fact they gained't respond to something from their babies! : )

1. Jacks dad is dead. Notice the wtf look on the doctors face when Jack says Christian's name. And the reaction he had to the pharmacist wanting to verify the prescription.
2. It was a flash FORWARD, that was obvious. If Jack knew Kate prior to the crash, you'd think they wouldn't act like strangers when they first met. Among other evidence.
3. Charlie is dead.

In the final episode of Season 3, Through the Looking Glass, Jack tells the new Chief-of-Surgery, in a "flashforward", taking place after the crash and subsequent rescue, to "go up-stairs, bring down his father, and see who has had more to drink." This is significant because these events take place after Christian's supposed death.
