I'm gonna make this as quick as possible. My ex-girlfriend apologized to me the other night and we ended up hanging out at my house. She borrowed $60 from me and said I would be paid back, which I secretly recorded her saying so she couldn't back out of it. She bought all of her clothes up and used my washing machine, which is fine, but now I have all of her clothes. Now it gets better.

She came up with 2 of her friends unexpectedly while I was at the store. I came home to finding them walking around my house and I was po'ed because my debit card had already mysteriously "disappeared" that morning and I had noticed when I went to the store. Two expensive cameras are now missing, and my debit card apparently "she went to one of the stores we went to and they gave it to her for me." I wanna know if I can keep her clothes until I get my stuff back? The debit card I canceled before she could use it. I went to the police about the missing items and reported it.

Look people, if all you're gonna do is insult me and call me stupid for not being able to read peoples minds and know what they are gonna do, turn around right now and leave. I came here for advice, not to be insulted.

Plus, I didn't realize my card was actually stolen out of my wallet until after I went to the store, came back to look for it, and my other stuff was missing. Then I knew something was up. Sorry I'm not a mind reader, do not come here insulting people, it's annoying.

Change the locks, and tell her that if she does not get your things back to you, you will file suit against her for dragging those people into your home without your permission. When you go to court, be sure to bring the police report, receipts for the items, and pictures of the stolen items if you have any.

It is not legal to do this. You do not have a general lien, as a solicitor or an accountant would have.

However, who is going to care? What can she do?
