For things like robberies, assaults, or threats of bad weather, loss of power. The usual reasons you would lock an otherwise always open business.
You would be amazed by the number of people who want to walk around police cars which are parked with their doors flung open, ambulance in the parking lot... wanting to see "what's going on?"

They closed our 7 eleven for selling drugs and we live in a nice neighborhood. Probably why they sold munchies.
