For many centuries, the western world has been dominated by a Christian-centred culture and 'idealogy', if that's the right word. But it seems that the power of Christianity is waning fast, maybe it's already no longer with us except in name alone. Are we on the brink of an Islamic era in which Islamic culture and 'idealogy' will dominate the world, not just the crazy extremist idiots but the peaceful and wonderful aspects of that religion too? In fact, isn't it only a religion that people feel strong enough to die for that CAN dominate the world?

Formal religion is dying out rapidly in the west. Hopefully it will fizzle out in the east to. When WILL people realize that that the dogmatic religions of the world have absolutely nothing to do with true spirituality. They are a poor substitute for people who find the search for truth too demanding

Islam is growing, but even if it becomes the dominant religion of the world, I have to ask the question: so what? In order for a religion to be accepted by enormous masses of people, it often has to be watered down and syncretized until it becomes generally acceptable by society. Even if Islam becomes the dominant religion, it will have to change so much to do so that it won't really make a huge difference; if it becomes dominant, the only real difference will be that people will say "Allah" instead of "God", and Ramadan will be more commonly observed. It's not going to somehow undo Christmas; on the other hand, it will likely absorb and re-upholster it, but still use it, much as Christianity did with Saturnalia. All of this is, of course, speculation; who can say that Islam will become the dominant religion of the world? It may end up practiced by more people than any other religion, but that means nothing; more people speak Chinese than English, but most of the speakers live in China, while English is spread throughout the world (it's a very popular second language in countries where the native language is something other than English). If Islam has more believers than any other religion, but they're all concentrated in a few areas, does that make it dominant? I'd say probably not.

I don't know if it will or not, but I just wanted to comment on some like Mohammed A. who call them uneducated, while practicing ignorance himself. Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world. You might want to do some reading and educate yourself, because if you ask any of those "uneducated Muslims" they will know a lot more than you do on the subject.

So who's really uneducated in this scenario? Your response had me laughing hard.

And the Hans is no better. True a civil war will erupt when we leave most likely, but there are highly educated Muslims in all countries where Muslims live. And all of them are not "good for nothings." You are so busy trying to correct someone else that you didn't even notice that she didn't say China or India was Islamic, she stated that they are east and third world countries, even though I don't think that is correct either (that China is a 3rd W Country). Take your time and understand the poster before you try to correct them, and then need to be corrected yourself.

People are so arrogant, but don't realize how ignorant they are and how much of a problem they are to the world. People hear their ignorance and runs around spreading prejudice, lies, slander, and ignorance all because someone thought they knew something, and opened their foolish mouth.

In a couple of articles recently (Saturday Essay, Daily Mail and the Times) respected scholars and writers have said that Islam will dominate Britain in 'a couple of generations'. Colonel Gadaffi has said that Islam will 'take' Europe in a few decades but not by bearing arms.

If we can take just Britain, the indigenous population are breeding at approx half the rate we used to (the average 2.4 children went out of the window years ago), whilst Muslims are breeding at a rate which is more than twice as fast. Coupled with increased immigration, and migration of the indigenous population Islam will almost certainly be the dominant religion here. You have been warned!!

I do hope not .

There are about 1,400,000,000 Muslims in the world, they cover vast areas of the planet. Nowhere in Islam is there an advanced democratic and economically successful place for Muslims to escape to.The only apparently successful places are small and based upon the cost of oil.

For this reason Muslims must escape to the west in order to join the modern world. What is forgotten is that if enough come they will make of the West what they have by definition made of Islam.

For this reason I am strongly against the mass immigration of Muslims into the West

Islam will only dominate the West if we are stupid enough to allow it

Where exactly in the world is islam a 'peaceful' religion.
Everywhere islam has gone trouble and conflict has followed. No matter what religious/political beliefs, no matter what type of culture there is in these lands islam comes into conflict with them.
Time after time the paranoia that islam creates makes them blame everyone else for their problems when the truth is its islam that is the root of all this trouble.
Any religion that takes itself so seriously and so strictly is going to cause nothing but pain and grief for the rest of the world.
I notice your last line there 'only a religion that people feel strong enough to die for that can dominate the world' - is that a subtle threat? like so much of islam is.
By the way, christianity is waning because atheism has been rising.

To be quite honest, I don't think the dominance of Christianity on general culture was necessarily a very good thing either. Years ago, when they imposed themselves as the main religion, they did a lot of damage and senseless killing. I wouldn't say their influence on culture was all positive, I mean, look at medicine for example, there was no such thing as tablets full of chemicals before, sick people used to put all their faith in these wise women who knew all about nature's secrets - herbs and plants - with respect to healing. Then Christians came along, renamed these wise women, witches, and burned them all to ashes. Nowadays, instead of using natural remedies (homeopathy is still kinduv patronised) we put chemicals in our bodies and torture animals to death in laboratories.

I dont care about Islam but in this case people are saying bad things about other peoples country.
I tell you it is not the religion fault when the regime of an muslim country use the word Islam to have benefilts on them. So that they could make more money and killing people in the name of God (Allah). Most of the well graduated people are from the east for example:
1. China
2. Iran
3. India
So not all the third world countries are illitrated I dont know about Arabs but people from these three countries are well gratuated.

The other religions are growing too and Christianity has about twice as many people as Islam and is also growing in Africa.
