In my opinion this whole situation stinks. While the prosecution might not have enough evidence against Vick, the evidence found at the scene clearly shows that dog fights took place in that house.

The NFL has been tough on players with character issues and I think they should take a stand against Vick as well. Every human being who threates animals in such way should be put away for a long time. While that probably won't happen, I do think the NFL should suspend Vick for the season if he's found guilty.

A lot of people won't agree, but I would even go as far as giving Portis a fine for his remarks about a criminal act. He obviously sees nothing wrong with it (that weak apology doesn't change a thing) so he should be fined and maybe even suspended as well.

There should be no place in the NFL for people who act so cruel to animals.

So what do you think the NFL should do?

I don't want to judge a person on hear say no more than I want to be judged. If Vick is found involved in these dog fights, the commissioner should be as stern as he was for Pacman. I have seen dogfights and it is not a pretty sight and anyone who could be so inhumane to even permit such acitvity should be pentalize to the fullest extent of the law. I am not a die hard animal lover but once you have seen something like that, you won't remain the same. If Vick is involved in any way, he should be held responsible and accountable for that role.

This smells a lot like the steroid situation in baseball. Sure baseball fined and suspended players for testing positive for steroids, but how many of them were "top level" players?
The league fined and supended many major league wanna-bes right out of the minors.
As far as Vick goes. I don't believe he will be suspended because of his status. Suspending him helps neither the team nor the league. It will be brushed under the rug, much like the "bong", I mean designer water bottle he was caught with in the airport. The league only suspends somewhat important players to prove a point. They don't suspend 'marquee' players.
As far as Portis goes. He may be fined by the league, but I don't think a suspension will happen, only for the fact that he was only stating his opinion. Since his opinion wasn't directed directly at an official or the league itself, I don't believe that he warrants a suspension.
The league says they are more commited to controlling the players in their league. I guess this is when they have their chance to prove it.

If convicted he should be suspended and not a little 1 or 2 game one either. Thats just a nice break in the middle of the season for him to get healthy. Give him 8+ games when he is not in jail if he gets that.

Let the courts take care of the fines, put him on probation, jail and stuff like that. And dont schedule his jail time conviently in the offseason like Tank Johnson and Jamal Lewis got so it doesnt hurt their career because thats not really a punishment.

Fine Portis too for encouraging it says its his property so its his business. Its a felony. Being behind closed doors doesnt overrule the law. I cant beat someone in my home legally just cause its in my home.

Pac man was involved in a triple shooting, fighting with a cop, and a few drug problems. Hardly nothing major.

If he is convicted, he should be suspended for AT LEAST a year. To me, this is a far more despicable crime than getting caught with drugs or prostitutes. Pacman Jones got a one year suspension without being convicted so even if there is strong evidence of his involvement in dog fighting, he might miss significant time from football.

I agree that Portis should be disciplined in some way. I agree that he has freedom of speech and a right to his opinion, however terrible it is, but he at least needs to be yelled at like a child by Roger Goodell for harming the image of the league by having one of its better players condone a felony.

Suspend him for a year. Pacman's game was over when he just got arrested several times, but he was never convicted of anything. Should Vick be convicted, coupled with him bringing a bong on the airport (if you're a "stoner" you know what I'm talking about) should get him suspended. As a Saints fan, I'd love to see it happen because anything that screws the Falcons is a GREAT THING!

Portis is an idiot. I can't believe he actually thought that his opinion matters in the first place. The guy that was with him (can't remember who it was) was probably laughing because he knew what Portis was bringing on himself.

If Vick is convicted (or involved for that matter), then he should be banned from football not just suspended.

There isnt a lot the commish can since this is a felony. He will first face criminal charges and do some time in jail, then possibly be suspended. If he did break the law he should pay the price!!

while all this got here up, I figured it would blow over and he'd malicious program his way out of it. i replaced into pleasantly shocked on the information of his indictment. He might desire to nonetheless get off yet at this factor in time yet enable's desire they stick it to him. confident, if he's stumbled on in charge he might desire to be suspended completely, yet I certainly have a feeling that they had purely droop him for some video games. The NFL is a important money making device and that they have got a picture to guard so they might desire to take some variety of action in this. because it stands now, they frequently have a thug image projected onto them through the habit of their gamers. in the event that they did no longer do something to him it would draw adverse interest and make it look that they are turning a blind eye to this habit.

Ban him 4 life! One day the Atlanta Falcon fans will realize that Vick is and will be the all time over rated QB in history!
Even better, let me hang him in my front yard from my tree,so my kids can beat him with sticks like a pinata!!!

See the problem is you said if he is convicted. IF he is CONVICTED then he should be kicked out for life. Now if he isn't found guilty of any crime, as in they can't get criminal charges, then I say with the evidence in play he should probably be suspended for the season.
