I hope this answers your question fully, it's a poem I wrote, years ago when my brother got up my nose about the subject.
So YOU men don't see the big deal.
Have you considered just how we feel?
A couple of days before it starts
We get pains in our lower parts
If you're fortunate, it doesn't increase
But your hair feels full of grease.
Then it comes, a bright red flow
Not the blue water the adverts show.
The thought of leakage makes you fret
And YOU patronise and call us "pet."
Is it any wonder we snap and yell
When our body is going through hell?
Just when you think it can't get worse,
You realise why it's called 'the curse'.
It's not just liquid, there is some clotting
And the smell reminds you of something ... rotting.
The pains come back, isn't that nice,
Your temperature plummets, you're cold as ice.
Suddenly, you're hot ... just as quick.
Your brain feels fuzzy, your head feels thick.
It's only five days - more or less
But it feels like forever you're in distress
So next time YOU feel its a bit of a fuss.
Stop and think what its like to be us.

"In season"??? What are we? Dogs? (Don't answer that!)
Hormonal changes account for it - it can be like clinical depression where you feel the mood coming over you but can't do anything about it. We don't ask for it and certainily don't enjoy it any more than you do. I bet any man wouldn't be able to endure for ONE month what women endure for the greater part of their lifetime.

you are not talking about a mongrel dog here...women don't become "in season". I am never grumpy for that reason. If you don't understand why some women are irritable at this time, ask your mum

I could give you a medical answer but generally I have no idea! I always know when I'm about to come on though,I can literally feel the insanity raising its stupid head and I am pretty much powerless to stop it *sigh*

Women don't get 'in season'. Perhaps the grumpiness they show towards you is a direct result of your attitude towards them.

It really is the change in hormones. But think about it from our point of view, the physical changes are enough to make anyone moody. Wouldn't headaches, stomach cramps, clumsiness, etc. (not to mention the blood) make you nuts too?

PMS means that there are hormonal changes in our bodies. and hormonal changes make us more sensitive, more interested in chocolate, more ready to fight, more...
That is the reason.
Our body goes trough changes every month.
