acidic foods, spicy foods, fried foods, and alcohol can cause indigestion. It's always best to sleep on your back. This keeps the spine incorrect alignment . You could be having gallbladder problems and that's why you get indigestion when you sleep on your right side. You should see your medical doctor and get a complete examination as soon as possible.

It definately does sound like acid reflux. There are a few things that you might not have thought about -- reduce or eliminate salt; eat fresh foods whenever possible; avoiding the coffee would be good too, but I know that's a hard thing to give up. Stress can also be a contributing factor. Eat regularly, like 4-5 times a day, and watch your portions, not too big, but you never want to get so hungry that you are starving. I had acid reflux for years and took medication for it, but as soon as I changed my eating habits it went away and I haven't needed a pill in months. Good luck.

It depends on the foods that you are consuming that is causing the gastric acid from your stomach to back flow into the esophagus causing heartburn. Too much of this acid will eventually cause ulcers in the lining of your esophagus and they are more painful than the heartburn itself. You can avoid the foods that are causing your symptoms or you can continue to eat the foods and get an over the counter med like Prilosec or Prevacid for prevention of heartburn. As for the positioning, I'm not sure what's going on with that. Hope this helps and Good luck to you.
