We wont know who died until next season. I know, it drives us all crazy not knowing, but we have not choice but to wait.

I think we won't be able to judge the season finale until we see what the writers do with it. If what follows justifies seeing Jack in such a dark place then we as the audience will feel the finale was good. If the Losties get off the island because of Charlie's actions, then we'll feel ok about the character's death. If the finale ends up to be one possible outcome and time travel things start happening on the show, this season's finale may still be justified, because it would represent the dark future that characters are working to avoid. So I think we'll just have to wait and see what they do with it.
As for who died, there can only be a couple of possibilities. It has to be someone that Kate could know died and still not show up to the funeral. So I think that means that the character was someone she didn't care about or was angry at. My first guess is Locke because in the airport scene with Jack, Kate said "he'll know" and the most obvious "he" is Sawyer. My second guess is Sawyer, because it's easy to see how Kate could become angry enough at Sawyer not to come to his funeral. My third choice is Ben, because Kate has plenty of reasons to hate him. The other variable about the funeral is that no one else came to it. So the person who died has to be someone who has no family or friends. I think Cassie would come to Sawyer's funeral if she could--she was pregnant with his baby. So that leaves Locke or Ben.
But who knows? We'll just have to wait and see!

I'm going with Locke. Because the dynamic between John and Jack is the driving force of the show. Jack realized that Locke was right...but too late, and now he needs to get back to the island.

All we can do is to make guesses. That was the one thing that kept bothering me through the entire episode....Who is in the casket??? Locke? Possibly...Ben? Could be.... But then, we will just have to wait and see :-(
The other thing is....during the flash-forward, when Jack is in the hospital stealing drugs, he tells the other doctor to "Call my father down here and if I am drunker than he is, THEN you can fire me". Why would his father be there if this is the future? Isn't his father dead? Hmmm.

Charlie drowning was the main death. Naomi was killed when Locke threw a knife into her back.
As far as the Others...Tom was shot by Sawyer, Pryce was killed by Hurley driving the van, a bunch of Others were killed by Sayid/Jin/Bernard, and two Others were shot in the underwater station.

The casket is TOO SHORT to be any adult or Walt that we have met on the island. It is someone we haven't met yet.
