If I've been off the pill for 6 months, is it likely that my pimples....?

That are suddenly appearing have something to do with that? That suddenly they are not used to me not taking the pill anymore? Been told it takes a few years for the pill to totally leave your cells when you stop taking it when you have been taking it for 5 years.

It's possible that this could be a side effect from coming off the pill but I would recommend double checking with your dr to be on the safe side.
