Every day I ask this question and yet has it been answered correctly.
What does a roofer (Shingle Slinger) use a Hypotenuse square for?

I am not a roofer but use hypotenuse regularly and would guess .. to have the rain groove on 3 tabs line up correctly.

Sounds more technical, Than just saying you need 10 shingles up & 100 across.

Most roofers I've seen use one, used it for a straight edge to cut shingle's for a valley.
