Hendrix or Clapton? Who's better?

Question

Who's better and why all the controversial arguments? Clapton and Hendrix were best friends, so they played together. I believe Clapton bourght Hendrix a left handed guitar the day before he died but never got the chance to give it to him.

Their music is good and yes, Clapton might do covers but he does it with 110% Style. Hendrix, I Believe, was a more lyrical writer because most of his songs were 12 mins long.

Hendrix was Stereotypical though wasn't he? He did exactly what "THE WHO" did; Damaged the Equipment...

I've been to many concerts but the Cream Farewell gig at the Royal Albert Hall was 700% better than the 4 Hendrix concerts I went to...

I would have to say Clapton. Hendrix was good too, but I prefer Claptons music. I never heard about any controversy or arguments about them so I can't help on that part. I think it's just all in ones music preferences.

Hendrix was way way ahead of his time. Not many know this, but Jimi was stone cold sober and clear headed when he ended Woodstock with his icon "The Star Spangeled Banner". Psst....Jimi was also highly supportive of Vietnam troops too, himself a Korean war vet, serving as a very active Army machine gunner on a helicopter.

Hendrix LOVED guitar, which his passion became his catalyst for his brief success in rock history. One of his first pro gigs was being a guitarist for Little Richard--who had to fire Jimi because he was stealing the limelight w/ his guitar work!! But we can't take nothing from Eric Clapton!!

Clapton is Jimi's equal--resonant with that very same passion for perfectionist guitar-- and through Slowhand's amazing work beyond Jimi's death--we get a glimpse into what could have been had Jimi lived on.

Personally I like clapton better, not only for his guitar skills but for the lyrics in his songs. "Layla" and "Tears in Heaven" are some of the best written songs I've ever heard.
Also, Hendrix did covers too-- "All Along the Watchtower" was originally written and performed by Bob Dylan!

hendrix belived he was in the shadow of Clapton until he revolutionised guitar playing. when hendrix played.

within a week of being in Britain Jimi sat in with Cream, clapton's band, and "burned clapton" as many people call it. Clapton thought his career was over.

But i still think Jimmy Page deserves to be either on par with jimi or above him. my opinion

as far as originality in playng techniques hendrix was way ahead of clapton his music was much more expressive as the guitar became his physical gateway to expressing emotion in an adlibed performance

where as clapton was a lot more calculated and precise with his playing like it was always planned and very same from performance to performance,

If you like the structure and rehearsedeness of clapton then him , but i like raw expression and the pioneering of new techniqes so i choose hendrix

Hendrix, the best of the best, he does have very good lyrics. he died very young and he is still be heared by millions of people, Clapton its still alive and playing, but he isnt as good as hendrix.
