A real tough question as both have their advantages. Baseball is a team sport so it takes a team to win consistantly. Let the groundball pitcher rely on his defense to turn the big plays. Strikeout pitchers usually have shorter careers as there is just too much pressure on them to perform individually. Look at Kerry Wood and Mark Prior. They may never pitch in the Majors again.

A groundball pitcher. Strikeout pitchers are great when they on their A game, but when they arent they get slammed. If you can have a pitcher that can get guys to hit balls in the infield most of the time, you have a lot better chance of winning most of your games.

Groundball Pitcher.
Strikeout pitchers are nice to have, but they generally make more pitches,as to where a groundball pitcher can easily get a few outs with less pitches and fly balls aren't an often thing...

You don't specify if this pitcher is a starter or a reliever. In either case, since I'm assuming from your question that if I had to choose one or the other for my team, it would be the ground ball pitcher. He's less likely to give up a home run or an extra base hit. However, both have their advantages.

Strikeouts allow less errors to be created. Granted ground ball pitchers induce double plays but sometimes u want no contact cuz of drawn in infield etc

i think it depends on how great (or not so great) your team is defensively. if i have a crappy defense, i'd much rather have a strikeout pitcher. if my team's defense is top notch, i'd rather have a groundball pitcher. no use in wasting pitches trying to get strikeouts if the defense can record outs.

A ground ball pitcher is better because he keeps the whole team into the game, where as a strike-out pitcher takes their infield out of the game and they get complacent and are not into the game as much
