You can't always tell if someone has an STD, but with some STDs you can see physically on their genitals or mouth area. Like sores, discharge, warts associated with things such as Gonnorhea or Herpes. If it looks and/or smells diseased it probably is. Condoms will protect from most STDs but may not fully protect from certain STDs. Some diseases such as Hepatitis, for example, can be transmitted through oral contact. HPV (though generally harmless) can be transmitted through skin contact. Crabs (pubic lice) can be transmitted through pubic hair contact or things like sharing towels. But rest assured, condoms will protect from all the most serious ones (like HIV, genital herpes, warts, chlamydia, gonorrhea, etc). The best protection possible is to get tested, don't sleep around too much, know your partner's history and decide how much you trust them, or don't have sex. It's ok to have sex without a condom if the woman is on birth control pills or an IUD (using both would be overkill but some women who are dead against pregnancy do it) Though no birth control is 100% effective, but it's pretty close. Many people use a second backup method like condoms or pullout even if she is on birth control. Really a condom is all you need, provided you use it responsibly and it doesn't break. If it does break then the morning after pill may be needed if semen spills inside. I use condoms only and it's worked for me even though sex feels better without it, because I don't want women to have to drug their bodies or have crap stuck into them.

the safe method to be used to avoid pregnancy depend on the woman age but still there is percentage of failure, even with condom which although it is the best method to avoid STD but pregnancy may occur e.g.due to tiny small hole. also contaceptive bills hazardous at age of 35 or more, finally contraceptive device not suitable for women with heavy menses and there are cases of pregnancy on top of IUCD.So take care you must consult BIRTH CONTROL CLINIC.
