And I've decided that if I get one, I clearly want it to have a strong emotional tie to myself. I thought about getting my grandfather's squadron emblem that he wore on his bomber jacket in World War II, that was exclusive to his plane and crew. Do you think he'd think this was incredibly disrespectful, or would he be honored? Your thoughts? What are some tattoos that other people have that have a deep meaning for them?

My dad passed away 2 yrs ago. He loved music and played a guitar. I had a picture of his guitar with angel wings and a halo with a ribbon wrapping the guitar that says "a father's love never dies". I have it on my shoulder. Everytime I see it I can hear him playing. He also dreamed of catching a marlin someday (he loved fishing), so my brother got a marlin jumping out of water and it says " a son never forgets".

You need to find the one thing that reminds him of you, the one that when you look at it, you will remember and smile....good luck!

I,m sure he would be honoured, but do you really want a tattoo? They're kind of permanent, and if you change your mind later, incredibly difficult/painful to remove. I saw a girl at the checkout the other day with blotches all up her arm where she'd had tattoos removed, and it didn't look good. Think again! Hope this helps.

I have 15 of them and they all represent something special in my life-whether past or present. You have to be sure that this is something that you will be able to look at when you are 65 and not be embarrased by it or wonder what in the world was going through your mind when you got it. ( I've had two cover-ups done because of this very question-lol) and last but not least, does it fit your current life-style or even future life-styles to come.

That's a rad idea for a tattoo. If you mean it to be respectful (which is what it sounds like), that is what it is. You should do it. Good luck!

i personally dont have a tattoo atm but its best to go with something that your emotional towards. getting a stupid picture now youl regret it. i think that it wouldnt be disrespectful towards your grandfather but its probably best to speak to him first about it (if hes stil with you).
