I feel Yahoo Answers is much like a confession.

I must admit, I have donated large portions of my wealth knowing these "donations" were tax deductible.

They also provide me with good image and rapport.

Do any of you feel as guilty as I do?

It is your material help to the poor people who can not afford to eat good foods, who can not buy medicines for their sickness, for those who are living from hand to mouth.

You are guilty for suspecting that the money and wealth which you give is not for the poor people, but the thing you have done is very commendable and it is blessed by God . Carry on the good works.

Anyway you could not bring your wealth to the other world and you will just leave it for nothing. Again good work, carry on.

I donate to charities because it is the right thing to do. I'm not concerned with tax deductions, having a certain image and so forth.

I'm simply give because I'm concerned with helping humanity in whatever way I can. I am but one person, but I do what I can.

Sorry to hear you are more concerned with tax deductions and a certain false image to others than with the true meaning of giving, when done geniunely, doesn't expect anything back in return.

I've donated money and time. I don't deduct the money I give to charities, it just doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

I see no pity in helping others who can't help themselves, I see it as the Duty of Humanity. Bad doesn't = Good, 1.

Because I want to help others.
