The movie was better..cause it was much more controversial..and was during the Vietnam war as the book was written..my favorite character was Hawkeye..cause I am big Donald Sutherland fan...BTW...the actor who played Radar was the only one in the movie and the TV show..I forget his name..Gary ..Something..last name starts with a B I think...

I prefer Robert Altman's film over the novel or the sitcom. I thought it was well cast, and I loved the way the dialog flowed. It was like people were having conversations rather than actors reading lines from a script.
I liked Radar, Hawkeye and the guy doing the announcements over the loud speakers the best.

Saw the sitcom first, liked Hawkeye until it got weird and too self rightous
Then saw the movie
Prefer the movie. Loved the football scene after they drugged the ringer and when he took off at the gunshot thinking he was at a track meet and mowed down the cheerleaders!!!
I just saw it yesterday and my god I could not believe how young everyone looked!
Donald Sutherland, Rene Aborgenouis, Robert Duvall etc etc

I got a kick out of Hawkeye and Klinger. We watched the TV series. Klinger cracked me up with his many outfits and tricks to go home. Larry Burns you wanted to kick in the butt as he was a hypocritical nut case. Houlihan was something else again. I miss that series. Radar was cute and comical, but oh so serious.

It has been such a long time since I saw that movie! I will have to watch it again because I remember everyone who was in it but I can't remember their characters. I love Kevin Kline and Jeff Goldblum though. That movie had such a great cast! Thanks! I know what I am getting from Netflix next time now. : )

favorite: Charles Emerson Winchester. pompous, irritating, but a heart of gold well hidden under it all.

LEAST favorite: tie between Radar and Hawkeye. every episode (almost) revolved around Alda and his problems. he has to be one of the most self-centered bu-tt holes in the history of the world. cannot stand him. Lefty-Gary Burghoff
