The whole TV seems to be full of either reality programs or soaps, and let face it, most of them aren't worth the time of day, I'd rather watch paint dry, every so often the odd good one comes along, but they tend to ruin it by dragging it on for far too long, I guess that's because they are cheap to make, and they don't have to pay the poor unsuspecting fools a lot of money to air their problems in public. Programs like Big Brother have become a launch pad for the over inflated ego's of no bodies who think they are special and as for series like cast away, well maybe it would be better just to leave them there and take away the TV crews. Then in place of that rubbish they could sit a camera up in front of a pot plant and we could all sit and watch it grow and flower, that's got to have more depth of interest !!!!!

Hi Greeney, obviously lots of people watch, not me, Stephen Fry is my fav. However, yesterday, when visiting a young friend, her toddler was watching tv and I was horrified at the contents of the c beebies programme . There was a severed head bouncing about, true, and talking, a blank wall ,from which protruded a pair of long menacing hands, and a few days ago, on one of the puppet shows, a scary episode, when somebody in a cape came in the dark, when the face was revealed, it was simply a wall of fur, no features, I am horrified, and if the bbc cannot see the problem, perhaps the child protection people should watch occasionally, for ,obviously, parents are too busy to supervise what their babies are being fed, does your child have nightmares, try watching poor old Brum, who was dumped in a waarehouse full of toilets, and pursued by two evil looking adult men, waving ladele, with which to beat him, yes, what is wrong/

The production houses and buyers for the TV channels do, as do the TV channel owners and shareholders. Relatively cheap to make, fill up a schedule almost to its entirety (consider E4 during Big Brother) and make for a multitude of revenue streams, such as phone voting.
Basically, the physical embodiment of the analogy "money for old rope".

I can't understand anyone who watches them, there is enough poor television with all the soaps and silly modern dramas.
My mother has just become a reality addict, but thankfully more sophisticated than watching chavs get drunk and twirl their underwear around, she is addicted to watching her local peregrines on the web cam, now that kind of reality TV I could watch myself.

I think some people actually do enjoy it, but I agree with you that they are tripe. My sister likes the Bachelor, but it makes me a little sick.

i think of a great variety of them are, they oversensationalise to income an purpose industry, like vast Brother and Survivor. I observed the 1998 action picture, "The Truman teach" in English immediately, as a results of fact we are reading it for English. It tells approximately how a youthful guy is residing interior a actuality television teach for all his existence, and would not comprehend approximately it. wish this helps.

i like 'im a celebrity get me out of here' and 'celebrity big brother' - only because it show you the celebs getting back to reality for a while - the rest of the programmes are just dribble - who wants to see everyday people doing everyday stuff? i can do that anytime :)
