Why is Madeleine Mccan getting so much attention when there are thousands of kids all over the world dying from AIDS, malaria, starvation and malnutrition? What about the kids who are being abused and raped by their own fathers? What about the kids being forced into prostitution? What about the countless other kids all over the world who have been abducted recently?

This seems like a perfect example of people being so totally ignorant that they buy right in to the media frenzy created around this little girl, because the media know that the image of her lovely white innocent face will manipulate people emotionally, the end result being a highly profitable phenomenon for the news industry.
Why, for example, is nobody wearing a cheesy yellow ribbon in aid of the kids in africa who are truly suffering? Do they matter less for some reason? Is it cos they dont have a cute little 'press photo' like Madeleine?

People are unbelievably ignorant.

It is rather sickening... I returned form Rwanda in January where I met many, many people who had been affected by the 1994 genocide. They demanded nothing.

There were teenagers who were the same age as this child when they witnessed their parents and extended members of their family being slaughtered before their eyes. Were there trust funds set up for them...?? I saw the same when I travelled to Guatemala. There was a five year old who was an orphan and who was working in an hotel [from 5am to 10pm] for his food!!

I am perplexed by the media focusing on this child because she is simply like any other 4 year old - why people are making her into some sort of beatific creature is a little beyond me.. she was abducted proably as a consequence of something orchestrated by her carers. There are thousands of abductions around the world with no press attention..... this country should really get a grip!!

At the end of the day it's stories that sell newspapers , It newspapers that are raking in fortunes because people want to read BAD news . No one is wearing a cheesy yellow ribbon for the kids in Africa because in the UK it doesn't affect us , It's not on our doorstep . The NSPCC support abused children the problem will always exist , That's just the way it is . What about the countless people in China that are killed every year , Why do we not hear about them , Once again it's not on our doorstep we don't need to be aware of it . I think one of the reason's the Madeline story was so big is because there was nothing else of much interest going on in the news at the time , You can bet your life if Prince William got himself a new girlfriend then that story would have made front page instead .

Shame , But show me the man who said life's fair !

I don't think the little girl's asking for too much attention. She doesn't even know that people around the world knows of her. She is one innocent victim and if she is still alive, then she needs to be rescued. I know there are thousands of kids who are in a much worst situation than she is but please, spare Madeleine. At least, with her safely back in her parents' arms, it would be one victim less in this crazy inhumane world.

Why care??? True, there are a million wrongs in this sad world of ours, but if you can right one tiny wrong that you are exposed to, wouldn't you want to try?
Maybe, trying to right that single tiny wrong would prompt you to move on to a vaster cause. Please don't take away the attention little Madeleine gets today...it may just help bring her home. i hear you on the other suffering children but that doesn't belittle Maddie's plight. Instead of ranting, create an awareness for them...
